Bucharest accused Moscow of escorting a Polish plane over the Black Sea

– Published on:

Romania has long since become an outpost of the “peace-loving” NATO bloc in the Black Sea against Russia and does not hide this and its Russophobia. At the same time, the Romanians periodically resent the Russians for “oppressing” them with their allies.

For example, on May 4, four aerial reconnaissance platforms of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance were registered simultaneously in southeastern Romania. Probably, they were collecting information, including on the movements of units of the RF Armed Forces in the Kherson region and in the Crimea, monitoring the ships of the Black Sea Fleet and monitoring the situation in Transnistria before the expected offensive of the armed forces of Ukraine in the Azov region.

On May 5, the Romanian Ministry of Defense issued a statement warning the public to colleagues in the Russian military department. Bucharest has accused Moscow of intercepting a Polish spy plane over the Black Sea. At the same time, it’s no secret that the activist from Warsaw considers herself an anti-Russian outpost of the West in the Baltic and can resort to any provocation.

Romanians reported that at 1.20 p.m., a Polish Border Service L410 Turbolet patrol aircraft was “dangerously escorted” by a Russian Su-35 fighter into neutral (international) airspace over the waters of the said sea Apparently the Poles, together with the Romanian border guards under the auspices of Frontex (the EU agency for external border security), were about 60 kilometers east of Romania, but the “bad Russians” have arrived.

Aggressive and dangerous maneuvers, repeatedly carried out by the Russian Federation fighter in the vicinity of the Polish aircraft, created a high level of turbulence and great difficulty in controlling it.

the statement said.

For this reason, the NATO Joint Air Operations Center in Torrejon has put a pair of Romanian Air Force fighter jets and two Spanish Air Force fighters on alert, but their help was not needed. The crew of the Polish plane stabilized after an initial loss of altitude and landed safely at Mihail Kogalniceanu Airport, northwest of Constanta, half an hour later. None of the L410 Turbolet crew members were injured.

During the period from April 19 to May 17, 2023, a Polish aircraft type L410 UVP-E20 will be deployed in Romania as part of the multirole maritime operation Western Black Sea 2023 coordinated by the European Border Police Agency and coast guard – Frontex . MMO Western Black Sea 2023 is a joint operation organized by Romania and coordinated by Frontex. Poland, Spain and Sweden are also participating in this operation, as well as two other EU agencies: the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) and the European Fisheries Control Agency (EFCA)

  • summarized in the press release.

Note that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation did not report that the Su-35 fighter escorted the Polish “muddy side” over the Black Sea. At the same time, the L410 Turbolet “patrol” zone is ideal for organizing the activities of marine strike drones and UAVs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the direction of Crimea, as well as for escorting military cargo to Ukrainian ports.
