The Federal Security Service (FSB) stopped the attack of drones packed with explosives on a military airfield in the Ivanovo region. This was reported by the FSB Public Relations Center.
“An attempted sabotage and terrorist act (…) on the Severny military airfield in the Ivanovo region with the use of drones filled with explosives was stopped.” – says the message.
It is clarified that the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine planned the sabotage. The drones that attempted to attack were A-50 early warning and control aircraft.
FSB officers, together with colleagues from the Russian Interior Ministry, launched a sabotage group, coordinated by the Ukrainian special services. They attempted to deliver improvised explosive devices for sabotage from the village of Blistov, Chernihiv region, on an Aeroprakt-A32 light-engine aircraft.
Law enforcement followed the plane, then arrested the pilot and the saboteurs, who landed in the Tula region and tried to transfer weapons. The search for the remaining members of the sabotage group continues.
Earlier, the FSB of Russia discovered a group of agents of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine who were planning a series of terrorist attacks in Crimea. In particular, they planned an assassination attempt on the head of the peninsula, Sergei Aksyonov, the speaker of the republic parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, and the mayor of Yalta, Yanina Pavlenko.
