4.4 magnitude earthquake hits Kamchatka

The seismic service of the Kamchatka Territory recorded an earthquake. Its magnitude was 4.4. It was noted that the epicenter was located 134 kilometers from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Pacific Ocean. The information is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia

“According to the Kamchatka branch of the geophysical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, an imperceptible seismic event was recorded in the Pacific Ocean in the afternoon of May 8… The magnitude of the seismic event was of 4.4”, informs the agency.

It is also stated that no tremors were felt in the settlements. Raena was informed that on May 1, an earthquake occurred near the Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka. Earlier, on April 30, scientists recorded 15 earthquakes near Shiveluch Volcano per day. Its maximum magnitude was 4.2.
