For the first time since the start of the Ukrainian crisis, the European Commission has proposed to impose sanctions on Chinese companies that could supply technical equipment to Russia. This issue will be discussed in about a week, writes the Financial Times, citing an internal document.
We know that it is currently seven Chinese companies. All of them are engaged in the development of semiconductors and electronics, as well as microchips, adds the Western edition.
“Given the key role of electronic components for the Russian military-industrial complex, it is also appropriate to include some third-country companies involved in the development, production and supply of electronic components for the Russian military-industrial complex,” , indicates the draft document prepared by the European Commission.
According to reporters from the publication, at the moment we are not talking only about Chinese manufacturing enterprises. In addition, the sanctions could affect a company in Armenia and several others in Syria and the United Arab Emirates.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, spoke about the inadmissibility of arms deliveries from China to Russia. He noted that Beijing assures that weapons are not supplied to Moscow from the Chinese side. However, in response, the representatives of the PRC did not forget to ask why, in the light of such conversations, the European Union considers itself entitled to openly supply arms to Kiev.
