Blinken added that Washington was working in the Jeddah talks to extend the ceasefire in Sudan and reach an agreement on humanitarian aid.
Jeddah is hosting representatives from both sides in Sudan’s conflict, the army and the Rapid Support Forces, for talks that the international community hopes will end the fighting that has lasted three weeks.
The Jeddah talks were part of a Saudi-American initiative, which aims to end fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which have turned parts of the capital, Khartoum, into zones of war, and caused hundreds of deaths and tens of thousands to flee.
Meanwhile, two international organizations said the death toll in the conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan has so far reached 604 people, while the number of displaced people has reached more than 700. 000 people.
In detail, the World Health Organization said 604 people have been killed as a result of the Sudanese conflict so far, noting that more than 5,000 others have been injured.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the International Organization for Migration, Paul Dillon, said on Tuesday that the number of internally displaced people in Sudan more than doubled in the past week, reaching more than 700,000, in light of the continuing fighting between the army and paramilitary rapid support forces.
