Serbian Foreign Ministry says country will not impose sanctions on Russia

Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that the republic cannot and will not impose sanctions against Russia for political, moral and human reasons, reports the channel of Prva television.

“Even in the first days of the conflict, we announced the decision of the Security Council to condemn the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine for fundamental reasons, because it is a principle that should apply to all countries, but we, for our political, economic, human, moral reasons, after all, we were victims of sanctions in the past, we cannot and we will not participate in the sanctions against the Russian Federation,” he said. he declares.

Dacic also pointed out that in Serbia they are already used to pressure from the West, since it is “their job” and Western representatives “work on their salary”.

Serbia takes a delicate position due to the fact that it has its own problems of territorial integrity, in the protection of which Russia helps.

Earlier it was reported that the European Commission, for the first time since the start of the Ukrainian crisis, has proposed to impose sanctions on Chinese companies that may supply technical equipment to Russia.
