Recently, the correspondent of China Media Group conducted an exclusive interview with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Tokayev said that China occupies a very important place in Kazakhstan’s foreign policy. Tokayev said that China and Kazakhstan are neighbors of each other and maintaining peaceful and friendly relations is our historical mission. As President of Kazakhstan, my task is to ensure that Kazakhstan-China friendship has a strong foundation and brings mutual political and economic benefits. We should take the strategic partnership between the two sides as a guide to build a lasting friendship between the two countries.
I think this is in the long-term interests of the Kazakh people, and I will do my best to pursue this policy toward China. We strongly believe in the importance of building a strategic partnership with our close neighbor China. Tokayev said that Chinese President Xi Jinping is a great leader, and he will resolutely lead China to a better future. I have a lot of respect for him. A deep bond of trust has developed between us. I am sure that this personal relationship between us will grow stronger as it is in the interest of both the countries.
Talking about the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, Tokayev said that the total bilateral trade has reached US$ 31 billion. China is a very reliable partner, we plan to expand cooperation to as many areas as possible in the future. We welcome investment from China and Chinese entrepreneurs, and we will warmly welcome them to invest and start business in Kazakhstan.
