Kiev attacked “civilian targets” with British missiles

Moscow has accused Kiev of using long-range British “Storm Shadow” missiles against “civilian targets” in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine, which is controlled by Russian forces.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said, in a statement, that “the air-to-air missiles of the (Storm Shadow) model, which the United Kingdom supplied to the Kiev regime, were used to carry out the strike, despite London’s statements that these weapons will not be used against civilian targets.”

It is noteworthy that the British government announced Thursday its intention to send “Storm Shadow” missiles to Ukraine, making Britain the first country to provide Kiev with long-range weapons, in a move that Russia considered “extremely hostile on the part of London.”

This missile is launched from the air and is “designed to meet the demanding requirements of pre-planned attacks against fixed, high-value targets,” according to the manufacturer.

In a related matter, the director of the Ukrainian President’s Office announced that Germany will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth 2.7 billion euros ($2.97 billion), which includes 30 Leopard tanks. Andrei Yermak said via “Telegram” that Berlin will also provide four “Iris-T” air defense systems, 20 “Marder” armored personnel carriers, 200 reconnaissance drones, 100 armored vehicles and a large amount of ammunition.

“We all want a quick end to this brutal war that Russia is waging against the Ukrainian people, but unfortunately it is not in sight, and that is why Germany will provide all possible assistance, as long as it is necessary,” German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a statement.
