Ukrainian pilots still cannot start training to fly F-16 fighters, which belong to European countries. The New York Times writes about this, citing information received from a senior Ukrainian official.
According to the newspaper, this is due to the reluctance of the United States to deliver the mentioned aircraft to Kyiv.
“Washington’s skepticism runs so deep that Kiev pilots are no longer even allowed to train on F-16s owned by European states,” the article reads.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, most likely, without the approval of the American side, Ukrainian pilots will only be able to learn technical language and gain tactical knowledge. Both do not provide for the direct piloting of fighters.
In addition, a certain American official expressed the opinion that the administration of the head of state Joe Biden does not consider the possibility of sending planes, in particular because of the large expenditure for them on the military budget.
Earlier Wednesday, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan did not comment on the future transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. He told reporters he had no information about it.
