Supreme Court: Court to hear plea against order for scientific survey of ‘Shivling’ in Gyanvapi mosque.

New Delhi. The Supreme Court has agreed to hear on Friday a plea by Muslim parties challenging the Allahabad High Court order ordering a ‘scientific survey’ of the ‘Shivling’ allegedly found in the premises of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. Is.

The survey also includes ‘carbon dating’ technique to determine the age of the ‘Shivling’. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala told senior advocate Huzefa Ahmadi, appearing for the Gyanvapi Masjid Management Committee, took cognizance of the submissions and agreed to list the petition for hearing on Friday. “The appeal filed against the Allahabad High Court order is pending,” Ahmadi said.

The Allahabad High Court had on May 12 ordered the use of state-of-the-art technology to determine the age of a structure found at the Gyanvapi mosque, claimed to be a ‘Shivling’. Canceled, under which the petition requesting to conduct other scientific tests including carbon dating of the structure found during the survey conducted in the Gyanvapi mosque complex in May 2022 was rejected. The High Court had directed the District Judge of Varanasi to proceed as per the law on the request of the Hindu side to conduct a scientific survey of the ‘Shivling’.
