Ryabkov said the West’s use of chemical weapons threatens Russia’s security

May 23, 2023

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the use of chemical weapons by the West is a potential security threat to Russia. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov. The politician believes that the Americans have transformed the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons into an arena for settling military-political scores.

“Americans and their Euro-Atlantic allies have long turned the OPCW into an arena for military-political score-settling – suffice it to recall the endless insinuations about the use of toxic chemicals and chemical warfare agents by the Syrian armed forces, the notorious ‘Skripal affair’ and the alleged ‘poisoning’ of A. Navalny,” Ryabkov said.

The politician added that the whole world community should take a closer look at the actions of Western countries.

Earlier, Ryabkov said US threats to strike Crimea are irresponsible and reaffirm America’s escalating course.
