Chinese scientists from the HIT Institute have developed microrobots that help in the treatment of diabetes, cancer, pneumonia and myocardial infarction.
The effectiveness of the novelty is achieved due to the unique ability to deliver drugs through the bloodstream. Preliminary tests have shown that microrobots achieve their goal in the form of a diseased organ without any problems.
The development is based on the principle of movement of microscopic tardigrades. Robots have become similar in size, in fact, it is almost five times thinner than a human hair. The publication writes about it Free press with reference to the scientific journal Science Advances.
Charged with the necessary medicine, microrobots move to their destination due to molecular lubrication. Experiments on rabbits have shown that the novelty can even move against the current, then literally sticking to the inner wall of the vessels. As a result, the medicine was delivered directly to the center of the deadly tumor.
Scientists plan to continue research in order to further introduce a novelty in the method of treating sick patients.
