Putin’s nuclear message. West warns of final stage

The nuclear danger is approaching

After his defense minister signed the document with the Russian side, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said the transfer of some tactical nuclear weapons from Russia to Belarus had already begun.

Here, Musiyenko Matuzov, a military specialist at the Ukrainian National Institute for Strategic Studies, argues that the Russian move is accelerating the pace of the confrontation between the West and Moscow, for several reasons:

Russia is officially trying to bring Belarus into its war, more than a year after the war. The deployment of these weapons in Belarus is indeed a direct threat to Europe and its western gateway.

Musiyenko-Matuzov added, during his statements to “Sky News Arabia”, that the decision and its implementation has already been one of the maps of Russian pressure on the West through the door of its ally Belarus, through these weapons, Western Europe will be within reach of these nuclear missiles, because the danger here is not only aimed at Ukraine, but the entire West.

Musiyenko-Matuzov explained that the implementation of this step also at this time indicates a strong possibility that Moscow will use limited nuclear weapons in light of the military losses it suffers compared to what it has achieved on field.

Moscow had already delivered Minsk the Iskander-M tactical missile system, capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads, and Moscow also helped re-equip Belarusian planes to use nuclear munitions as well.

Precautionary procedure

On the other hand, the Russians see this step as a precautionary measure in the wake of the direct Western war against Moscow, represented by military and intelligence support in Kyiv. Here, Oleg Artyovsk, a researcher of international affairs at the military institution “Volsk”, argues that the West is already engaged in an all-out war against Russia.

Oleg Artyovsk added, during his statements to “Sky News Arabia”, that the deployment of these weapons in Belarus is due to several reasons, including:

The great military activity of NATO, which has become more hostile to Moscow. Finland joins NATO and attempts to militarize the Western European front bordering Russia. Russia and Belarus participate in the Western sanctions imposed on them.

In this context, Dr. Basil Al-Hajj Jassim, a researcher specializing in Russian-European affairs, said that the agreement between Moscow and Minsk provides for the transfer of tactical nuclear weapons to private facilities in Belarus, and that the agreement constitutes a more symbolic step than an actual step towards the actual use of these destructive weapons, but it represents a qualitative and strategic step change in Russia’s nuclear weapons policies.

Basil al-Hajj Jassim added, in statements exclusive to Sky News Arabia, that the agreement is a message to the West and the United States that Moscow is ready and determined to defend itself until the last breath, and has the ability to transfer its tactical nuclear weapons to capitals that support it politically and militarily, and that Russia connects Its nuclear capability is the real threat between the threat of the Russian state entity from Western capitals or in the event of a threat against a strategic ally important as Belarus.

And Vladimir Putin announced, at the end of March, that his country would work, at the request of the Belarusian side, to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, as the United States has been doing for a long time on the lands of its allies.
