Family of Indian-origin girl killed in knife attack in UK heartbroken

London: Grace Kumar, 19, was stabbed to death in Nottingham. Her family has said that their daughter’s death has left them completely devastated and heartbroken. Grace O’Malley Kumar was walking home from a night out with fellow student Barnaby Webber when she was stabbed to death on Ilkeston Road in the early hours of Tuesday. In paying tribute to their daughter, Grace’s family remembered her as a doting daughter and sister who was very happy in life. Calling Grace a talented player, the University of Nottingham said in a statement that it stands with the families of Grace and Barnaby at this difficult time. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Shearer said Grace was a medical student who was doing well in her first year of study and was looking forward to a career in medicine through work placements in GP surgeries and volunteering for a nationwide vaccination program during the COVID-19 pandemic. West said she was a talented women’s player, playing for both the under-16 and under-18 England hockey teams and the Essex under-15 women’s cricket. An immensely talented Grace was loved, respected and admired. Grace’s father Sanjay Kumar had saved three teenage knife attack victims in 2009.
