Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Achievement of US Vice President Kamala Harris an inspiration for all women: PM Modi

Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised US Vice President Kamala Harris for her achievements and said she is an inspiration to women across the world, including in India and the US. Modi also heaped praise on Harris’s mother and said she kept her ties with India alive despite being thousands of miles away. During a lunch hosted in his honor at the State Department by US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, Modi said, “Madam Vice President, you have taken this inspiration to new heights today. You are an inspiration to women not only in America, but in India and around the world. It is really inspiring.” In his remarks, Modi also referred to the inspiring journey of Kamala’s mother Dr. Shyamala Gopalan.

He said, ‘Dr. Shyamala Gopalan, mother of Vice President Kamala Harris, came to America from India in 1958. At that time most people did not have a phone and hence his mother used to write letters to her family. He never allowed geographical distances to break ties with his family in India. “Modi said,” He kept this relationship alive through every way and means. He made the most of it. For much of his life in India as well as in America, he kept the two connected. Despite the distance of thousands of miles, India was always close to his heart.

Referring to his state visit to the US, the Prime Minister said he held several meetings and discussed a number of issues in the last three days. He said, ‘All these meetings had one thing in common. In all these meetings, everyone was of the opinion that there is a need to further deepen the friendship and cooperation between the people of India and America. The melodious melody of India-US relations is composed of the notes of our people-to-people relations. Examples of these relations can be seen at every step.

PM Modi also praised Blinken’s diplomatic skills. He said, “The whole world knows about your diplomatic skills and I am now well aware of it. There is also a lot of talk about your musical talent.” The Prime Minister said, “Your contribution in strengthening our strategic partnership has been incredible and I thank you for it.” Traveling a very long and beautiful journey for nine years.

He said, ‘Friends, during my visit in 2014, my dear friend President Biden was also here with me at the State Department. At that time, he referred to Indo-US partnership as a future possibility. Since then, in this period of nine years, we have covered a very long and beautiful journey. He said that both the countries have expanded the scope of mutual cooperation in defense and strategic areas.
