Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The divorce that shakes Hollywood – Who will pay for the children?

As the world knows, the most odious divorce in Hollywood right now is actor Kevin Costner and Christine Baumcartner’s divorce. The lady filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage, but the couple have three children aged 15 to 12, while Costner previously had four children, three with ex-wife Cindy Silva and one with Bridget Rooney.

The reason given by Baumcartner was that Costner’s workload negatively impacted family life due to his absence from duty. A year ago, she decided to stop acting in the television series Yellowstone.

Now it’s the amount of child support the couple are arguing about, and Baumcartner says the monthly child support payment for the three children of $52,000 or around ISK 7 million is “completely inappropriate”. She insists that the payment should be $248,000 per month or 33.5 million ISK so that the children do not have to endure hardship.

According to new court documents, because that’s where the divorce came in, Baumcartner points out that Costner earns $65,000 a month renting his beach house, or about ISK 8.8 million, and it’s a much higher amount than she just thinks he pays with their three children who are all minors.
The family when everything was going well
The couple have son Cayden, 16, and daughters Hayden, 14, and Grace, 13. Records show Baumgartner hasn’t worked since 2007, when her first child was born, but she says her children are used to a lifestyle that includes aides who take care of schedules, errands, food preparation, cleaning and cooking.

However, Costner argued that the $51,940 he currently pays per month is the only “fair” amount he should pay in child support. He also claims that he simply cannot afford to pay more since he will no longer be part of the Yellowstone cast.

“I will earn much less in 2023 than in 2022,” he says in court documents. “It’s because I’m no longer under contract with Yellowstone, which was my main source of income last year. Costner also claimed through his attorneys that Baumgartner was only asking for higher child support for paying the bill out of her own expenses. The documents say she spends over $100,000 on cosmetic procedures, ISK 13.5 million. Costner also claims that Baumgartner spent thousands of dollars on high-end stores, ATM withdrawals, construction loans, attorney fees and other expenses that had nothing to do with their children.
Baumcartner has filed for divorce and wants more money
Baumgartner, who needed a court order to be evicted from the couple’s $20 billion luxury palace, says he wants to use the money to find a home comparable to the luxury home their children have been accustomed to so far.

It was previously reported that the couple entered into an agreement early in their marriage, and Costner’s three properties are his separate property under the agreement. Kevin says that he has already paid Baumcartner what she owed according to the contract, which is around 200 million ISK and in addition offered to pay the moving costs and the rent of a new house for her, this which she refused and sat as a squatter in the palace until the application for candidacy was received.

It is clear that some couples take the words “in a fight” to heart, especially when love is burning. We probably haven’t heard the end of the divorce that rocked Hollywood.
