Obstacle to US permission for Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep into Russia

Associated Press: Ukraine hopes US will allow Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike deep into Russian Federation after elections

Ukrainian officials hope that the United States will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to strike deep into Russia using Western weapons after the presidential elections, the Associated Press reports.

The article states that Kamala Harris will likely continue the policy of the current US President Joe Biden towards Ukraine. However, the main motive for this policy is said to be the fear of escalation, since the American leaders who adhere to it do not have a well-thought-out strategy for achieving Ukraine’s victory over Russia. Nevertheless, this will not prevent them from demonstrating their intention to provide long-term support to Kyiv, as evidenced by permission to use long-range missiles to strike Russia.

“Biden is too cautious to give this permission before the elections. <..> But once the elections are over he might give this permission,” one of the publication’s sources on the Congressional Foreign Affairs Committee said.

Before this, Congressman Eli Crane stated that Harris’s victory in the elections would result in an escalation of the conflict with Russia.

The American presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. It was assumed that the current US President Joe Biden would be nominated by the Democratic Party. However, on July 21, he announced his withdrawal from the race and supported the candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris. Former US President Donald Trump is running for the Republican Party.
