Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Washington did not condemn Israel following its ground attack on Lebanon, noting that it encourages it to expand the area of military operations.
According to TASS, By not condemning Israel’s recent attacks on Lebanon, Washington is egging its Middle East ally to keep expanding the war zone, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
“We are deeply alarmed by the cavalier attitude shown in recent political assassinations, those that occurred on July 31 in Tehran and on September 27 in Beirut,” Lavrov said.
“After Israel military launched its ground invasion of Lebanon on the night of October 1, there was no response, and the US administration did not issue a word of condemnation for this act of aggression against a sovereign state. Thus, Washington is encouraging its Middle Eastern ally to expand the area of military operations,” Lavrov said in a post on the Russian diplomatic service’s website.
He added “Since Israel launched its ground invasion of Lebanon on the night of October 1, there has not been a single word of condemnation on behalf of the US administration about this act of aggression against a sovereign state,” he continued. “This way, Washington is encouraging its Middle East ally to keep expanding the war zone.”
He considered that the methods of political assassinations that have become an almost routine practice are also very worrying, as happened on July 31 in Tehran, and on September 27 in Beirut.
Russia had strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Lebanon, called on Israel to stop the aggressive actions, and warned that the attack would lead to further escalation of violence in the Middle East, while Lavrov confirmed that Israel has not achieved its goals after all this fighting, considering that it “wants to provoke a comprehensive war.
