Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Jordan condemns the construction of 7,000 settlement units in the occupied West Bank

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs today condemned the announcement by Israel to build 7,000 new housing units in the occupied West Bank in the settlement Esa Efrat.

The ministry spokesman, Ambassador Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, affirmed in a statement the condemnation of this declaration and its rejection of a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law and United Nation Security Council resolutions and a very dangerous unilateral step that undermines the chances of a two-state solution on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and which is the only way to achieve a just peace.

The Ministry warned of the consequences of this step and stressed the need for the international community to take effective and serious action to prevent its implementation or the implementation of other settlement and annexation plans.

The ministry reiterated that the policy of settlement building, annexation, land expropriation and displacement would kill peace chances and fuel conflict.
