The day before, Trump assured that Beijing had exposed the whole world to the danger of infection by not restricting flights from the country.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry protested following a statement by US President Donald Trump at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, which called for holding Beijing accountable for the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Trump called the argument in favor of his claim that “in the very early days of the spread of the virus, China banned internal travel around the country, but at the same time allowed flights from China and infect the whole world.”

“Unfortunately, contrary to the facts, the American side used the UN rostrum to fabricate rumors, baseless attacks, and slander China for unseemly political goals. The Chinese side expresses its strong protest,” the Chinese diplomats said in a statement .

Also at the UN General Assembly, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on not to allow the world to split over the conflict between the United States and China.

In mid-April, Trump decided to temporarily suspend U.S. involvement in WHO pending an investigation into the organization’s failed response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
