Ukraine criticized Slovakia’s promise to transfer obsolete MiG fighters to the balance of the armed forces. A corresponding statement was made by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Melnik.
Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nagy said he was ready to share 10 of the 11 aircraft in the arsenal. The country no longer intends to use fighters and is ready to transfer them to Kiev.
In Ukraine, it is believed that the aircraft was taken out of service due to a lack of spare parts and maintenance personnel. In addition, designated MiGs have developed a flight resource.
“We are defending all of Europe, all of the democratic world. We need the weapons that will scare the Russians, not some decommissioned vehicles that they know have vulnerabilities,” Melnik said.
According to the deputy head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, such “bad service” from neighbors will only endanger the lives of pilots of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also confirmed that he was ready to supply Kiev with MiG-29 fighters instead of F-16 military aircraft.
