Qatar: The head of the Planning and Statistics Authority meets with the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund

His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Muhammad Al-Nabit, Chairman of the Planning and Statistics Authority and Chairman of the Permanent Population Committee, met with Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund, and Ms. Laila Bakr, Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund for the Arab States, who participated in the inauguration "United Nations House" Lusail City recently, on the sidelines of the Fifth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries.

During the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Muhammad Al-Nabit reviewed the efforts of the State of Qatar in dealing early with population and development issues and the achievements it had made in this regard. His Excellency also valued the fruitful cooperation relations between the Committee and the United Nations Population Fund, which were represented by the conclusion of a number of related agreements, and the benefit One of the Fund’s experiences in following up and evaluating the committee’s work and its technical and scientific activities in accordance with international trends in the areas of population and with the characteristics of Qatari society.

For her part, Dr. Natalia Kanem thanked the State of Qatar for its continuous support to the United Nations system at the global level, and to support the work of the United Nations Population Fund in particular, noting the technical support that the Fund can provide regarding data analysis of the sustainable development goals, including developing The Second Voluntary National Review, as well as supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 in the areas of reproductive health, adolescents and gender, expressing at the same time the Fund’s readiness to provide support to the government in its approach to fulfilling its commitments to support and empower women and youth to help build capacity, adaptation and resilience to climate change.
