Ambassador Nechaev: Germany’s position on Putin’s arrest warrant is worrying

Germany’s position on the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Russian President Vladimir Putin is worrying. This statement was made by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.

“The irresponsible statements by some German officials about their support and willingness to comply with the illegitimate and completely absurd decision of the International Criminal Court are causing extreme concern and indicating how far from reality they are in their desire to aggravate still the conflict with Russia”, Nechaev’s words are quoted in Telegram, diplomatic channel.

Earlier, German Justice Minister Marco Buschmann said Putin would be arrested if he visited Germany. He added that he would fulfill the ICC requirement if the Russian leader was on German territory.

In a conversation with Paragraph, Andrey Klimov, deputy head of the Federation Council’s international committee, called the intention of the head of the German Justice Ministry to arrest Putin “savagery”.
