Blogger Varlamov* was recognized as a foreign agent

The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation today entered blogger Ilya Varlamov* into the register of foreign agents. The department justified its decision by the fact that the blogger received support from foreign sources.

It is alleged that Varlamov* disseminated false information about the decisions taken by public authorities and their policies. This is stated in the message from the Ministry of Justice.

In addition, lawyer Pavel Chikov*, journalist Ruslan Bakaleiko*, political scientist Ruslan Aisin* and social activist Svetlana Lada-Rus* were recognized as foreign agents.

Recall that today the Basmanny court in Moscow arrested blogger Maxim Katz, recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, in absentia for two months. Last year, a criminal case was brought against him for spreading false information about the military. The blogger was put on the international wanted list.
