Rospotrebnadzor from the Kaliningrad region shared details about preventing tick-borne infections. According to the statistics of the department, in the field of infection, transmission by ticks takes the first place in terms of the number of registered cases.

Over the past year 2022, the number of requests for medical help for tick bites has increased. If in 2021 citizens asked for help 4,202 times, then in 2022 this figure immediately increased to 5,379 cases of asking for help.

At the same time, in 29.7% of cases, the victims were children under the age of 14. Due to the increase in the number of tick bites, the department last year increased the area of ​​acaricidal treatment of the territories, and immediately by 40%. Thus, in 2022, more than 5,000 hectares were treated against ticks.

The main preventive measure against tick-borne viral encephalitis is vaccination of the population. In 2022, 8967 people were vaccinated against this infection, 9676 people were revaccinated. This was reported by the press service of the Rospotrebnadzor of the Kaliningrad region.

Earlier, The Eastern Heraldin Kaliningrad reported that a total of 121 cases of a new coronavirus infection were registered in the Kaliningrad region over the past day. Only 17 people were hospitalized. This indicator has remained at roughly the same level throughout the past week.
