Today, the Education Above All Foundation and the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs held a ceremony to honor the outstanding students of the Qatar Scholarship Program, and to welcome the new beneficiaries of the program.
During the ceremony, 25 students were honored for their excellence in academic performance for the academic year 2022-2023, in addition to 39 new scholarship students and 18 graduates, in the presence of students, their parents, faculty members in local universities, and representatives of partner organizations, universities and embassies.
The Qatar Scholarship Program is a program that provides scholarships to young people between the ages of 17 and 25 who have spent most of their lives in the State of Qatar, allowing them the opportunity to complete their higher education in universities based in Doha.
In a statement on this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Tariq Al-Akbari, the Yemeni Minister of Education, noted that the State of Qatar provides the opportunity for young people to complete their scientific career, develop their abilities and qualify them for various fields of work in the future, based on the fact that investing in the human element is considered the most important and successful investment, expressing his happiness to participate in the Such an event.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Thani, Director General of the Endowments Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, stressed in a speech the importance of the religious and historical role of the endowment in attracting and supporting scholars, as well as providing educational opportunities for students in various disciplines, through the endowment bank. For scientific and cultural development and its various projects, including the university scholarships project in cooperation with the Education Above All Foundation and a number of universities, praying to God Almighty to grant success to the graduates in their scientific and practical career, and wishing success to the new entrants.
In turn, Mr. Fahd Al-Sulaiti, Executive Director of the Education Above All Foundation, said that over the course of five years, the Foundation has provided more than 160 scholarships to students of more than 20 nationalities living in Qatar, and that the Foundation is moving forward in this direction, as the number of targeted grants has been increased. From 120 to 500 educational scholarships in scientific institutions recognized for efficiency and excellence.
He pointed out that the Foundation supports millions of children and youth around the world to ensure their access to a safe and quality education, noting that the ceremony confirms this commitment and consolidates the pledge made by the Qatar Scholarship Program to the next generation of leaders and change-makers in Qatar. He praised the efforts of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for its support for the Foundation’s efforts to provide life-changing opportunities for deserving young people to pursue successful careers and support and strengthen their communities.
It is noteworthy that the Qatar Scholarship Program has provided, since its inception in 2018, more than 160 scholarships for young people residing in Qatar, and aims to provide 500 scholarships by the academic year 2025-2026, through partnerships with distinguished universities such as Qatar University, and partner universities. Qatar Foundation, Al Rayyan International College, Doha University of Science and Technology, and the University of Calgary in Qatar, or through new partnerships with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Oryx International College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, Lusail University, and the Institute of Global Studies.
