Musk: US will pay for low birth rate

October 3, 2025

Americans face retaliation for low birth rate, tweeted billionaire and social media owner Elon Musk.

Musk reacted to a Reuters report, which indicated that social security funds would be devastated in 2033, a year earlier than expected.

“A big payback is coming due to low birth rates,” Musk wrote, citing Japan as an example.

In Japan, in 2022, a record birth rate was recorded – 799.7 thousand people. So few Japanese have been born in all of counting history, and in the past 40 years the birth rate has almost halved.

About 3.7 million babies were born in the United States in 2021, as the birth rate in the United States has been declining over the past five decades.
