Ryabkov: relations between Russia and the United States are destroyed

April 4, 2023

Deputy Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Ryabkov said that the state of relations between the Russian Federation and the United States is destroyed, that they can be characterized by the word “collapse”.

According to him, the American course has changed radically since the signing of the START treaty and its ratification. Relations between Russia and the United States have deteriorated since 2010 due to former presidents, namely Barack Obama, Donald Trump and now Joe Biden.

“I will probably describe the current state of these relations in one word – collapse, relations are destroyed,” Ryabkov summed up, noting that Washington is responsible for this.

Moscow sees no point in holding talks with the US side on strategic offensive weapons. This position was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov, commenting on Washington’s statements that it is open to meetings with the Russian Federation to discuss its concerns and the possibility to return to the treaty on measures for the New Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START).
