The seventh session of the “Green Tent”, organized by the “A Flower For Every Spring” program, reviewed a number of successful experiences, applications and initiatives in the circular economy from Arab countries and the world, which are related to reuse and enhancing the utilization of wasted materials and waste and their optimal management and their role in preserving Natural resources, in light of international attempts to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. The session dealt with the Islamic perspective of the circular economy and its developmental dimensions, and the role of the circular economy in achieving sustainability. Participants in the session confirmed that there are honorable practices and models for the State of Qatar in the circular economy, and waste recycling in many sectors, especially the contracting sector, pointing to the recycling of about 80 percent of the waste from the eight stadiums that hosted the 2022 World Cup matches. They indicated that reducing pollution and waste and addressing the challenges of climate change in order to achieve sustainability can be achieved by shifting from a linear economy system to another that relies on converting waste into raw materials that can be reused and recycled. , / Circular Economy / Although this matter requires great efforts from everyone. They pointed out that there are several pillars of the circular economy, including benefiting from natural resources, innovation and product quality, as well as expanding the uses of a single product, noting the need to preserve resources and the environment, and to issue legislation that stimulates circular investment and green industries, especially as they contribute to economic sustainability and cost savings. . They emphasized the role of the circular economy in facing climate changes since the Fourth Industrial Revolution, especially since the world has witnessed increasing economic and population growth, which has created great pressures on the environment and lifestyle, and thus the planet has witnessed huge amounts of waste and emissions that caused complex social, economic and environmental damage. Which puts the world in front of a major challenge as a result of this increase. They demanded the need to raise awareness and promote a culture of waste sorting among the emerging generations at all educational levels, which contributes to reducing consumption, explaining that the linear economy results in negative effects on the economy, the environment and society, such as solid and gaseous waste, while the circular economy is based on three principles. "Optimizing limited resources, maximizing product utilization, and recovering by-products and waste"Noting that there is an inverse relationship between the circular economy and environmental degradation. The greater the growth of the circular economy, the lower the environmental degradation, and the less social challenges along with it, which confirms the need to change the lifestyle and consumption style. In this regard, Dr. Saif Al-Hajri, head of the Every Spring, a Flower Program, stressed the importance of the role that the economy plays in all nations, and that there are many experiences that began since the dawn of Islam in how to deal with the economy and respect the environmental system, indicating that the State of Qatar will organize "Qatar Conference and Exhibition for Social Responsibility" Which will start its work at Qatar University during the period from 16 to 18 May next, and which will focus among the issues that will be discussed on environmental issues and the circular economy. In turn, Prof. Dr. Ali Muhyiddin Al-Qara Daghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, touched on the Islamic perspective of the circular economy, and its role in reducing the gap between the poor and the rich and distributing economic resources in a fair manner, noting that the circular economy is based on the principles of social justice, cooperation and solidarity, It centers around the importance of recycling and reusing resources in a rational manner, and includes: economic cooperation between individuals, communities and countries, and recycling and reuse of economic resources. He pointed to the need to control material production in accordance with the level of real consumption, and to confront environmental, economic and social changes that affect people’s lives, with the need to focus on producing environmentally friendly materials that do not harm people or cause pollution, indicating that there are more than 300 verses in The Holy Qur’an forbids corruption and waste of money, and that the volume of waste that is not used reaches millions of tons, so the Holy Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace) urged us on the need to benefit from the consumed materials and reuse them in order to preserve resources.
