The Russians have learned that the human brain contains proteins that may be responsible for body weight. Scientists have identified 60 proteins in this category.
During the study, the experts focused on the area of the brain responsible for sensitivity to food rewards, such as the pleasure of eating foods high in simple carbohydrates or fats. This area of the brain is thought to control appetite and satiety.
The results of the study support the idea that body weight directly depends on the brain. This is reported by the publication Gazeta.ru.
“People with a genetic predisposition to being overweight have a higher weight than before, while people without this predisposition were thin before and remain so today”
experts say.
Confirmation of this hypothesis could help further the fight against obesity and similar eating disorders.
Earlier, The Eastern Herald in Veliky Novgorod reported that Novgorod scientist Pavel Shadursky spoke about the development of a stress sensor.
