Sadyr Japarov’s upcoming visit to Moscow was announced after the regular meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation. It was held in Bishkek with the participation of a large delegation from the Russian Federation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk. The President of Kyrgyzstan met him after negotiations on the site of the intergovernmental commission.
Sadyr Japarov stressed that he considers the peoples of Russia and Kyrgyzstan to be fraternal. “Our historical and cultural community is a key factor in the development of bilateral relations, he said. I am convinced that the results of the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission will contribute to the deepening of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation” .
- Kyrgyzstan is our strategic partner and ally in Central Asia, – in turn noted Aleksey Overchuk. – Our cooperation is multifaceted and aims at the development of Eurasian integration processes.
According to Alexei Overchuk, in general, relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia are of a trusting nature, and the expected official visit of Sadyr Zhaparov to Moscow will serve to bring the two countries even closer.
- Of particular importance for the visit is the fact that it is timed to coincide with the celebration of our most important common holiday – Victory Day, – he said. – We remember Kyrgyzstan’s contribution to the defense of Moscow and victory in the Great Patriotic War. The memory of this is sacred to us.
In the meantime
In a meeting with Alexei Overchuk, Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov said he strongly opposes any attempt at political manipulation around the use of the Russian language in the republic. This issue has recently been actively debated in the Kyrgyz Republic through a number of legislative initiatives and statements by parliamentarians.
- The Russian language is enshrined in our Constitution as an official language, – underlined Sadyr Zhaparov.
