Today, Tuesday, the Kuwaiti National Assembly (parliament) failed to hold its first session after the Supreme Constitutional Court ruled, last March, to reinstate it and cancel the elections held last September.
And the parliament’s account on Twitter stated: National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim adjourns the session because the government did not attend, the decree forming the new government was not issued, and the quorum was not completed.
The official website of the National Assembly said that Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim adjourned the session, which was attended by only 22 deputies out of fifty, to after Eid Al-Fitr, due to the lack of a quorum and the failure to issue the decree forming the government.
On March 20, Al-Ghanim returned to preside over the Kuwaiti National Assembly, after the Constitutional Court ruled that the 2022 Parliament elections were invalid and the 2020 Parliament was restored.
And the Constitutional Court in Kuwait had annulled the elected National Assembly during the year 2022, and the invalidity of those who declared their victory in the recent parliamentary elections.
And last August 2, an Amiri decree was issued to dissolve the National Assembly for lack of cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities in a crisis that lasted for several months.
