Only with my permission. Mishustin bans government officials from leaving Russia

The travel ban applies to all government leaders.

Senior Russian government officials have been banned from leaving the country. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed a decree that his deputies and heads of ministries are only allowed to travel abroad with his permission, reports The Bell*.

The travel ban applies to the entire leadership of government – ministers, their deputies, chiefs of staff and even heads of department. From now on, they will be able to leave the country if necessary and with the approval of the Prime Minister.

Currently, the Cabinet of Ministers has the most stringent requirements for employees compared to other levels of government. For example, for members of the presidential administration, there are much more flexible rules for traveling abroad.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin At the same time, it is noteworthy that the number of foreign trips in the schedules of Kremlin staff has decreased significantly over the past year. And those who still decide to leave the country, for example on vacation, are obliged to choose “neutral” countries. The travel permit is personally signed by the head of administration Anton Vaino.

In addition, intelligence agencies are confiscating foreign passports from state officials, fearing leaks and desertions, the Financial Times reported earlier. According to the publication, even a number of officials who had left the state apparatus had to hand over their documents.

The government of the Russian Federation is to begin a massive shutdown of state institutions after Russia’s budget deficit hits an all-time high. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers does not intend to reduce law enforcement institutions.
