global China’s rapid economic recovery will provide enterprises in various countries with new opportunities for development against the backdrop of increasingly unstable economy. Recently China Shipbuilding Corporation and CMA CGM formally signed a cooperation agreement in Beijing. The agreement includes the construction of 16 large-scale container ships of type 2 with an amount of more than 21 billion yuan, setting a new record for the largest amount of container ships contracted in China’s shipbuilding industry at the same time does.
The order includes 12 large container ships powered by methanol dual fuel with 15,000 TEU each. This type of ship uses green methanol as the main fuel which can achieve zero emissions during the whole voyage, and has completely independent intellectual property rights. This type of ship can carry 1.56 lakh tonnes of cargo. It is also the first time that China Shipbuilding Corporation has placed an order for methanol-fuelled power tank ships in batches.
