State Duma deputy Oleg Nilov took the initiative to introduce a “military tax” in Russia. The parliamentarian suggested spending the collected funds to finance each participant in the special military operation in Ukraine.

According to the politician, a personal income tax of 2-3% should be imposed on all men under the age of 45. Thus, military personnel could receive monetary compensation in the amount of 400-500 thousand rubles instead of the currently established 200 thousand rubles.

“Is it difficult? It’s 1-2 thousand rubles from each of 40 million, it turns out already more than 50 billion rubles a month. It’s not just about increasing budget revenues, but about their intended use”, quotes the NSN the interlocutor.

According to Nilov, men who were not drafted into the ranks of the armed forces could use the tax to support those who were the first to go to the front. Additional payments would increase the motivation of active military personnel and those who only think of service.

Since the special operation will not end anytime soon, and the possibility of a new wave of mobilization in the country is causing panic, the military tax would be of great help, the parliamentarian is convinced. The initiative is currently under discussion.

The day before, the deputies of the State Duma passed a resounding law on the reform of military registration in Russia. From now on, electronic diaries will have the same force as paper diaries. In addition, a unified register of persons liable to military service will be created. Today, the Federation Council voted to pass the law.
