Russian Ambassador to the United States Antonov: States promised Sergei Lavrov a “cold reception”

October 3, 2025

The United States promised Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov a “cold reception” when he attended a meeting of the UN Security Council. This was said by Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov, his words are quoted by TASS.

“For many years we saw no friendship from the American side. We were given unequivocal warning at the State Department at a very high level that Sergei Viktorovich would be coldly received here. Let’s see how that plays out over the course of ‘direct events, in what way it will be expressed,’ Antonov noted.

The Russian ambassador also pointed out that Washington has not yet issued visas to members of the Russian delegation, which will participate in Security Council events. The American authorities assure that everything is still being coordinated. Given that since April 1, Russia has chaired the Security Council. Western countries have already expressed their concern and doubts about this.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said Russia’s presidency of the UN Security Council in April was “a slap in the face of the international community”. The presidency rotates monthly among the 15 member countries of the UN Security Council. The last time Russia chaired the Security Council was last February when the NWO started.
