In the urban district of Chkalovsky of the Nizhny Novgorod region, a criminal case was opened under part 1 of article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal possession of a car or other non-flying vehicle).
A resident of the village of Chistoye contacted the police department of the city of Chkalovsk with a report of the theft of his tractor equipped with an excavator bucket. The object of the criminal encroachment was found not far from the crime scene, with damage to the bucket and front wheel. The gate and fence of the tractor owner’s house were also damaged.
Investigators say a 56-year-old resident of a nearby village, previously convicted, was involved in the hijacking. The suspect admitted to starting the engine with the keys left in the ignition, then started to move, but lost control, damaging the fence, gate and vehicle.
The unfortunate hijacker is under house arrest, for his act he faces up to 5 years in prison.
