St. Petersburg residents have called on kick-sharing companies to pay compensation after an accident with electric scooters

April 17, 2023

Residents of St. Petersburg have demanded that kicksharing services compensate victims of reckless drivers riding electric scooters. It was reported “The Eastern Herald in St. Petersburg” with a link to the petition on the platform Change.org .

The victim of this type of transport was, in all likelihood, the famous St. Petersburg actor Vadim Volkov. He died on April 9. According to preliminary data, he was hit by a drunken 18-year-old boy on an electric scooter.

The author of the petition noted that now anyone can use an electric scooter. Often, drunken runs on them send passers-by to hospitals. The author of the petition is convinced that not only the perpetrators of the accident, but also the services themselves, which make it possible to rent a scooter, should be held responsible for such accidents. The author is convinced that the services should cover all costs of treatment or burial of victims of tragedies with scooters, as well as pay compensation for moral damage and damage to health.
