Environment emphasizes the role of Islam in climate action

April 19, 2023

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change participated in a workshop entitled “Islamic Ethics and its Role in Climate Action”, as part of the Earth Dialogues series, organized by the Arab Youth Climate Movement in Qatar, in cooperation with Msheireb Museum. The workshop was held at Bin Jelmoud House in Msheireb, the heart of Doha. In his speech, Engineer Ahmed Muhammad al-Sada, Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs at the Ministry, emphasized Islam’s interest in the environment, and its many legislations and rules that guarantee its preservation and safety, indicating that this concern is consistent with the true religion’s view of the universe as being made and planned by God. During his speech, the Assistant Undersecretary added: “The reality of environmental balance is reflected in God’s saying, “Indeed, everything We created has a measure.” One of the elements of caliphate is the reconstruction of the universe and the building of the land that comes from planting, afforestation and the development of its natural elements, referring in that aspect to the prophetic directives to preserve the basic elements of the environment, namely: water resources, and the preservation and care of plant diversity, in addition to the living organisms that must be preserved from extinction.
