Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group, offered to exchange American Paul Whelan, convicted of espionage, Vladimir Kara-Murza*, sentenced to 25 years in prison for spreading false information about the armed forces Russians, and Evan Gershkovich, suspected of espionage, for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.
“Replace Whelan, Kara-Murza* and Gershkovich with Assange. Less than three, they won’t give it back. Save one useful life at the cost of three harmful lives,” Simonyan wrote on his Telegram channel.
Also, Sergei Obukhov, a member of the Communist Party faction, said the State Duma “offered to exchange” WSJ Moscow bureau correspondent Evan Gershkovich for the former US president, Donald Trump.
The day before it became known that the Moscow City Court sentenced Vladimir Kara-Murza * to 25 years in prison for treason and forgery of the Russian army. The politician has been in a remand center since April 2022, initially a criminal case was opened against him for spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces.
