The Chisinau official declared an employee of the Russian embassy persona non grata after the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, was not allowed to enter the republic. This was stated by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the south-eastern European country Philip Cojocaru.
“It was decided to declare persona non grata on the territory of our country an employee of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Chisinau,” reports TASS.
The official representative of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry added that two other employees of the diplomatic mission were deprived of special access to the airport.
Recall that on Monday, April 17, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov was refused entry to Moldova due to alleged support for a candidate in local elections and interference in internal affairs of State. At the same time, the republic’s border police noted that Minnikhanov’s statements that he was declared persona non grata in the country did not correspond to reality.
