If earlier the tactic of leading infantry into battle involved the support of armored vehicles. According to Voenkor Alexander Sladkov, the experience of NMD should help the RF armed forces to reconsider Soviet tactics and use new ideas.

Sladkov stressed that if earlier the use of Marines and Airborne Forces as mobile groups worked well, for example, in the Caucasus, now the situation is different. The great length of the front line makes it impossible to deploy the groups correctly, since there are not so many of them.

  • If the marines, by their organizational structure, are more or less suitable for combined arms combat, then the airborne and special forces were not preparing for this and not for this. It turns out that we spend very expensive special units on tasks for which they are not designed, ”said Sladkov.

The experience of the SVO, Sladkov noted, very soon raised the question of restructuring the RF Armed Forces in the direction of quality. According to the military correspondent, after the end of the special operation, the command may divide infantry units into heavy and light units, and perhaps the attitude towards armored vehicles will also be revised.

Probably, the main problems lie in the “legacy of local wars” of the 1990s. The landing was extremely efficient then, but now it is technically expensive and in its current form not very productive.

Earlier, Sladkov commented on statements about the intentional delay of the SVO by the Russian Federation. It is not profitable for Russia to deliberately prolong a special military operation in Ukraine, the military commander believes.
