Doha Film Festival is organizing a montage workshop next June

October 3, 2025

The Doha Film Institute announced that it will organize a montage workshop on the first of next June. The workshop (which will be held via the Internet) aims to support 3 feature films (fiction/documentary) from Qatar or the Middle East and North Africa region, and one short film from Qatar in the montage stage. . Those in charge of film projects from Qatar will have the opportunity to submit their short film projects that have reached the editing stage. This workshop mainly seeks to raise and enhance the tangible artistic capabilities of the selected projects, while expanding the horizons of sales of completed projects and supporting their chances of spreading and reaching festivals at the same time. Each team – consisting of the producer, director, and editor – will present a preliminary version of its cinematic project to hear the opinions of experts regarding the editing process, noting that the list of the three experts participating in the workshop includes creative producers, festival programmers, and sales agents. These teams will also receive advice on each project from Professional editing consultant. Participants will discuss the materials they have worked on to benefit from specialized consultations, either through personal sessions or in small meetings through online communication platforms. The schedule includes a workshop that will take place over the course of one day (for short films) and two days (for feature films), and it deals with each project individually, and each workshop is preceded by a short preparatory meeting. Project teams can then submit a new edit to their editing coach in a month or two and get a two-hour consultation on the new edit that was submitted. At the end of the workshop, each team will receive a written report that they can guide in the editing and post-production process. Participants will be selected based on the excellence of their films, their vision and methodology, as well as their previous work.
