Sources in Tokyo confirm G7 talks on ‘almost total’ export ban to Russia

– Published on:

The issue of introducing an “almost total” ban on the export of goods to Russia is indeed being discussed by the leaders of the G7 countries, as previously reported in the media. The Kyodo agency writes about it, citing sources from the Cabinet of Japan, which is serving as G7 chairman this year, who are aware of the situation.

Kyodo’s interlocutors also confirm that the relevant discussions are related to the upcoming G7 summit, which will be held in Hiroshima from May 19 to 21. The article indicates that the embargo could be extended to categories such as used cars, tires, cosmetics and clothing.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported on G7 plans to agree on an “almost total” ban on exports to Russia. At the same time, the agency indicated that the issue is controversial, especially since the idea in the future should be shared by EU countries.
