I want to maintain an extraordinary relationship with China: Brazilian President Lula

October 3, 2025

brazilian President Luiz Lula da Silva gave an exclusive interview to China Media Group during his recent visit to China. He said that China and Brazil have broad common interests. During my first and second terms, I built extraordinary relations with China. I hope that such relations will continue in the third term also.

He said that China has now shown the power of a big country in almost all economic fields. China is also doing brilliantly in science, technology, manufacturing and engineering. This is important for the whole world. China does not instigate war in the world stage. It focuses on development. It is beneficial to the world. I am happy to see that China is investing in Latin America and Africa. In my view, today’s China is a balancing force in the world economic competition. And China is also a balancing force in the world scientific development.

He said that China has presented an economic model of rapid development while maintaining ideology and party building, which is praiseworthy. Developing countries like China, India and Brazil have made steady progress in industry and scientific and technological fields, and have established themselves as world leaders. Countries who consider themselves as owners have been worried. But we want to tell those people that we only aspire for equality. In fact it is also the reason for Brazil to establish partnership with China. He said that China has deeply participated in the construction of Brazil. I want to see China’s success.
