The former president of Moldova, executive secretary of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon believes that his country is losing its independence and turning into a “banana republic”.
According to him, the country should have good relations with the East, while focusing exclusively on the West will make it a banana republic, whose economy will be entirely dependent on grants and loans.
“We are not only losing production, we are losing our independence. Practically, Moldova has already lost its economic security. I’m not talking about military, diplomatic and so on. Moldova will stop at a sort of appendage of Western structures,” Dodon told Russia 24 television.
He also believes that the inclusion of the republic in the list of countries hostile to Russia and the severance of relations with the CIS will deal a severe blow to the economy.
