American-made Abrams tanks supplied by the United States to Germany are not intended for further use in combat operations in Ukraine. They will be used exclusively for training Ukrainian army soldiers, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said Monday during a press briefing.
“We expect these tanks to be used exclusively for training purposes. These are not converted tanks, which should eventually be sent to Ukraine,” he stressed.
Ryder added that in the future Kiev will receive equipment that has been re-equipped according to the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the specifics of its use in front-line conditions. Washington will supply such tanks to the Ukrainian troops not from the reserves of the American ground forces, but from sources of another type.
Earlier, the interlocutor of RIA Novosti reported that Russian units in the special operation area began to use modern T-14 Armata tanks.
