The Federation Council approved the law on deprivation of Russian citizenship acquired for discrediting the RF Armed Forces

The Federation Council approved a law on deprivation of Russian citizenship acquired for discrediting the RF Armed Forces and for actions that threaten national security.

The Constitutional Committee of the Federation Council at a meeting supported the law. The meeting is broadcast on the website of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

According to the Law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”, it is also possible to deprive citizenship acquired for public appeal to extremism, encroachment on the life of a statesman, as well as for the organization of an armed rebellion.

Earlier, the State Duma of Russia supported the deprivation of Russian citizenship for a threat to the national security of the Russian Federation. The amendment is made to the draft law “On citizenship of the Russian Federation” signed on April 5 of the previous year.
