Washington: America’s Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has said that the relationship between America and India is important for the future of the world. He said that India and the US are working closely on issues like never before. Garcetti (52), a close aide of US President Joe Biden, was officially sworn in as the US ambassador to India last month. The appointment to one of the most important diplomatic posts for the US came after more than two years.
Addressing a gathering of distinguished Indian-Americans at the first-of-its-kind India-US Summit organized by Congressional India Caucus co-chairs Ro Khanna and Michael Waltz, Garcetti said, “There are few relationships in the world that America And more important for India. Our (India-US) relationship is important for the future of the world. As US President (Joe) Biden has said that India and America are indispensable partners.
Garcetti said, ‘Before going to India, I spoke to President Biden about his views on US-India relations. He emphasized how important these relationships are. These relations are very important for the whole planet and especially for our two countries. ” He said that India and America are working closely on issues like never before. Garcetti said, ‘We are the world’s leading democracy. The US and India are the world’s largest and fifth largest economies respectively. He said the steps India and the US will take together will shape “this G20 year and the 21st century beyond”.
