US President Joe Biden has said Washington is looking for opportunities for a “diplomatic breakthrough” in relations with the DPRK. This will help boost stability on the peninsula, he said after meeting with the South Korean president in the United States.
“We continue to seek an opportunity for a serious and meaningful diplomatic breakthrough with the DPRK to enhance stability on the peninsula, reduce the threat of nuclear proliferation and address human rights concerns in the DPRK,” said the White House chief.
Biden added that the United States and South Korea are honoring their defense commitments, so the alliance between Washington and Seoul remains “strong.”
Earlier, the commander of US armed forces in South Korea, General Paul LaCamera, said that North Korea has developed such missiles which can strike not only Seoul and Tokyo but also the US capital, Washington. He said so during a hearing in the House of Representatives. According to him, for the US Air Force, the priority remains the defense of the homeland and its allies.
